The Investment Management Team at SSC&B combines the kind of high quality, sophisticated legal work traditionally found in larger firms with the responsiveness and efficiency often found only in smaller, more nimble firms. Each of the senior lawyers on our team has served for a number of years as the General Counsel of a multi-billion dollar asset manager, as well as serving in a non-legal senior executive capacity at the same organization. This broad investment management experience, combined with a significant number of years of private legal practice in large commercial law firms, gives us an exceptionally strong understanding of the legal services asset managers want and need from their lawyers.

At SSC&B, we make the following commitments to our clients:

Our senior lawyers, with an average of more than 17 years of investment management industry experience, will be personally involved with your legal work and accessible to you on a day to day basis.

We do not employ the leveraged business model used by larger firms, employing an army of associates to be trained at your expense to increase firm profit.

Our hourly billing rates are up to 1/3 less than typical large firm rates for comparable work, reflecting our efficient operations as well as our understanding that most of our clients are spending their own money on legal work.

Established in 1991, SSC&B represents a range of hedge funds and other asset managers, from start up hedge funds to affiliates of multinational financial institutions. Our clients manage in excess of $70 billion across a wide range of strategies. While we are located in Los Angeles and offer a strong presence in this under-served market, we are licensed in New York and California and often work with asset managers in financial centers as far away as New York, Boston and Sydney, Australia.
